CHÂU Kim-Sanh (she/her) 

is a dance and video artist. Her stage work has been presented at Agora de la danse, MAI, Tangente, l’Arsenal, l’Écart (Canada), Krossing-Over (Vietnam), Performance Curator Initiatives (Philippines), and SIDance (Korea), among others. She is also a filmmaker, with a particular interest with cinematography and body in motion. Chau is a Việt Kiều (Vietnamese born in France). She lives in  Tio'tia:ke Mooniyang Montréal and returns to Vietnam regularly. Her artistic work is produced by company MIDLAND. She is also artistic director at Studio 303, and hold a Master in Dance (UQAM, 2021) and a Master in Finance (Aarhus Business School, 2011).

est une artiste en danse et vidéo. Ses pièces ont été présentées à L’Agora de la danse, au MAI, à l’Arsenal, à l'Écart, à Tangente, et à travers plusieurs festivals internationaux, dont SIDance (Corée), PCI (Philippines) et Krossing-Over (Vietnam). Châu réalise aussi des films avec un intérêt marqué pour la cinématographie et le corps en mouvement. Châu est une Việt Kiều (Vietnamienne née en France). Elle vit à Tio'tia:ke Mooniyang Montréal et se rend régulièrement au Vietnam. Son travail artistique est produit par sa compagnie MIDLAND. Elle est aussi directrice artistique du Studio 303 et diplômée d’une Maitrise en danse (UQAM, 2021) et d’un Master en Finance (Aarhus Business School, 2011).

ORE est bleu, scintillant, fragile.
Cette vidéodanse, tournée à Saigon (Vietnam), suit 11 interprètes dans cette ville riche et chaotique. Ancré dans un langage chorégraphique et cinématographique épuré, Kim-Sanh Châu & Ray Lavers proposent leurs regards subjectifs sur cette ville à laquelle ils sont liés, sans pour autant la comprendre pleinement. Leur travail dialogue avec l'espace et met en lumière la lenteur. ORE est la seconde vidéodanse d'une trilogie tournée au Vietnam, faisant suite à Inner Smoke (2016), qui a reçu le prix de la meilleure direction 2017 au Festival Quartiers Danses / Cinémathèque Québécoise.

ORE is blue, gleaming, fragile and powerful. This screendance project, shot in Saigon (Vietnam), follows 11 dancers in this rich and chaotic city. Believing in a deep and visceral body language, Kim-Sanh Châu & Ray Lavers’s creation is intimate and assumes its own subjectivity. Their work is anchored within space, as well as rythm. ORE is their second screendance shot in Vietnam, following Inner Smoke, which was awarded Best Direction 2017 by Festival Quartiers Danses - Cinémathèque Québécoise (Canada).
